Introducing Disney AppMATes - a new line of toys that comes to life digitally when used with an Apple iPad allowing kids to use the tablet’s screen as a virtual play mat. The Appmates toy line features miniature Disney•Pixar Cars 2 vehicles with sensors on the base of each toy that are recognized as a unique footprint by an app with no cable or Bluetooth connection required. Simply download the free Cars 2 Appmates app from the iTunes app store, place your favorite Appmates toy character on the screen and play. Ages 4+ Toys available Oct. 1 at national retailers, Apple Store, Apple Store online, Disney Store and www.DisneyStore.com with vehicle two-packs featuring four characters including Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell. Two additional characters — Francesco Bernoulli and Shu Todoroki — will launch in November and be available exclusively through Apple Store and Apple Store online.

goodbye imagination
great!
My kids and I spend plenty of time outside. If using technology is a mark of laziness, then what are you all doing wasting time on YouTube, LOL! I use this game as reward for schoolwork, chores, etc. Like any technology (TV, computer, video games, phone, etc.) there is plenty of room for abuse; it is up to parents to set reasonable limits.
I have an anti-glare/anti-scratch protective film so scratching is non issue.
My 4 and 6 year old absolutely LOVE this, as do I. Very fun!
Scratches Screen? Yes it does. Buyer beware. Box says “safe to use for iPad”. I am a clean screen freak…so i KNOW my screen (i had one scratch near the bottom button) and upon cleaning before and after a every modest session with the toy I noticed new circular scratches in the center of the screen where you are instructed to use the toy. I can’t believe this made it through product testing. I would wait for a second gen. It needs the rubber like nibs of iPad pens. Metal feet on glass is lik
Wow!
Shouldn’t that kid be out singing songs somewhere?
ipad 2 only - Packaging and videos don’t mention that….Extra trip back for a return. My 3 year old is not getting an iPad2 for his birthday.
Well it potty train him?
Starting to get advanced.
What’s next, games that can virtually take u in and u
Can be the person in the game.
This is epic
wooooooah
it’s a cool device but I rather have my kids playing outside ..
@PingByter iPad screen is glass. Can’t scratch it with something like that any more than you can scratch steel with a toothpick
Lucky guy… we could just dream of sticks and rocks…
@fancoy hahahahahaha
For ipad 1?
LOL
NIce
Steve Jobs is a genius…
This looks like so much fun!
Technology is slowly killing imagination. I used to image my room as a track and cars would just fly everywhere, good times. Now they have an iPad.
Huh, pretty innovative if you ask me.
I give this to my kid without the ipad lol
this is so cool
0:24…….oh yeah!!!
IMA HAPPY!
