Well, I think that Only Revolutions isn’t so mainstream - it has more tangents, time signature changes, unconventional song structures, and is heavier and more edgy than puzzle. So I’m very happy with it. I’m glad that they’ve been discovered, and wouldn’t have wanted them to remain underground, but as I say, it’s the situations surrounding their move to the mainstream that I feel are the downside, waiting until they changed. And I agree with Gemisx - they didn’t sell out.
puzzle wasnt their best album, and i like that biffy are classed as a heavy rock band. i love biffy old and new, and its good that they lasted so long undiscovered. In my mind i know that they are pretty much mainstream now. I dont like to think so though. Compared to any similar artists of biffy, they are by far the most superior and experimental.
I agree with you, and Infinity Land was my favourite for ages. Definitely sticks out as the most progressive and experimental of the lot, and I will love screaming along to ‘Jaggy Snake’ forver!

I’ve seen new fans writing that they go to gigs and are disappointed to find that Biffy are actually ‘a heavy rock band’.
This is exactly what we dont want. No disrespect but for biffy to go mainstream, would mean songs made for public demand and not for the love and passion. Obviously anyone whos a biffy fan through and through will agree with me. I love all of biffy’s music. Especially infinity land with their 8 minutes epics. It’s people that only like one song that doesnt sound too heavy for them who give them a bad name.

I love Biffy old and new, I just wish that they had been accepted on the mainstream radio from the start - ‘57′ ‘Justboy’ ‘questions and answers’ in particular always showed Biffy’s more ballad/anthemic side, but they were ignored. Hope the new decade and peoples hatred of X Factor meants we’ll see more bands like Biffy get recognition earlier in their careers. Mumford & Sons and Bat for Lashes - I’m pleased they’re doing well so early on in their careers, they’re talented artists

totally agree all ma mates have written biffy off!i think only revolutionsn is amazing and personally i think they’ve taken what you you could call an evolutionary step.People want theirr stuff to sound like ‘the good old days’ but if they kept soundin the same they’d moan.Only revolutions is amazin…end of..FUCK the haters!Biffy are on top form…i’m not even sayin at the peak cos they have shit loads more to come!
I love all of the Biff’s stuff, from Blackened Sky, Vertigo of Bliss and Infintyland to Puzzle and Only Revolutions. They have changed, not sold out.

If a band changes too much then its criticised for selling out, if a band sticks to the same sound, then they get criticised for being unimaginative…i geus its just a no win situation no matter how good the band is, i for one am just glad theyre still making music, to me its all goddamn EPIC from a song like this down to the bloody captain.

Why the hell is The Captain a joke? It’s an awesome song. Just because it doesn’t sound exactly like their early stuff doesn’t mean it’s automatically shit. I love The Captain, Mountains, and all their new stuff just as much as their old shit.
